Monica Maduekwe, as the Gender focal point and ECOW-GEN Coordinator at ECREEE, is responsible for implementing, and providing oversight to, the programme’s activities. Ms Maduekwe established ECOW-GEN on the basis that a programmatic approach was required to systematically address the gender and energy issues in the ECOWAS region.
Prior to this, she worked as a project staff on the Supporting Energy Efficiency for Energy Access in West Africa (SEEA-WA) project and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) – United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Strategic Programme for West Africa (SPWA) at ECREEE. Monica is an energy and environmental economist by training and a gender and energy specialist by passion.

Vera Monteiro is the ECOW-GEN Web content and Social Media Expert, responsible for creating awareness and promoting ECOW-GEN’s activities. Prior to this, Vera worked in various areas including telecommunications and press and communication officer.
