ECOW-GENetwork is an interactive online platform connecting gender and energy practitioners, as well as other stakeholders, with the objective to promote, through knowledge sharing, a cohesive, coordinated, and a more effective approach to gender-responsive sustainable energy development in West Africa and in Africa as a whole.

The ECOW-GENetwork works to:

  • support information exchange and knowledge transfer on best practices on gender mainstreaming in energy access;
  • facilitate collaborations between ECOWAS countries and countries outside the region;
  • raise awareness and conduct advocacy for mainstreaming gender in energy development in the region;
  • contribute towards capacity building efforts targeting policy makers, project promoters and civil society groups.

In addition, under the framework of the ECOW-GENetwork, specialized support networks would be created for energy entrepreneurs, technicians and young researchers.  More information would be made available soon.

The network is open to individuals and institutions (government institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSO), academia, etc.) working on, or interested in, gender and/or energy within, and outside, the West African region.
