This side event aims to further explore the synergies of the energy and gender nexus, and demonstrate how re-thinking the nexus can add value to sustainable and inclusive development. The panelists will present lessons learned and potential ways forward to successfully promote and enhance the role of women as active participants and leaders for production and consumption of sustainable energy.

Where: Geheime Ratsstube, Hofburg
In addition, UNIDO will host a special networking event on “Women for Sustainable Energy” to reaffirm UNIDO and its partners’ strong commitment to gender mainstreaming all energy initiatives, and to further recognize and promote the catalytic role of women in the production and consumption of sustainable energy. Highlights of the event will include the #standtall campaign, a global initiative of ECREEE aiming to raise awareness of the underutilized potential of women in the energy sector and to spur concerted actions, from both men and women, to address energy challenges.
