ECREEE has launched a new online interactive network – The ECOWAS Gender and Energy Network, dubbed the “ECOW-GENetwork”, for professionals working on gender and energy. This network on Gender Mainstreaming in Energy Access was created to provide professionals with an opportunity to participate in, and support ECREEE’S Gender and Energy activities in West Africa.
With a sophisticated design, modern interface, user-intuitive parameters, as well as diverse and regularly updated contents, the online platform presents users with a captivating experience, while, simultaneously, uncovering issues on gender and energy through contributions from the users themselves.
The ECOW-GENetwork is unique in that it empowers the users (men and women, and the youth, who encounter these issues daily) to contribute to and assist in addressing inequalities in the region’s energy sector and beyond.
The network is one of the initiatives executed through the ECOWAS Programme on Gender Mainstreaming in Energy Access (ECOW-GEN), a flagship programme launched by ECREEE to promote socially inclusive energy development in West Africa. The goal is to serve as the catalyst for the pursuit of energy solutions that meet the energy needs of both men and women.
