Event on Women in Energy to hold on the sidelines of Africa Energy Indaba in Johannesburg

On 15th February 2016, the 2nd Annual Women in Energy Forum will hold in Johannesburg, South Africa, as an official side-event of the Africa Energy Indaba, which will run from 16 – 17 February 2016. The conference on Women in Energy is being organized to create awareness of women’s ongoing contribution to the energy sector and deliberate on concrete measures to increase women’s participation, for their economic and social empowerment.

It is envisaged that the presentations and discussions during this one-day event will, among others, cover:

  • Requirements for achieving a diversified and inclusive workforce in the energy sector, and areas for further research;
  • Success stories from companies leading in the designing and implementation of initiatives targeting women;
  • Novel approaches to attracting women leaders into companies;
  • Roles available and being acquired by women in the energy space;

In summary, the event will “provide a platform for women to network, share their knowledge, discuss achievements and encourage the advancement of women across all sectors of the energy industry”.
