Implemented by the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, the WEF is one of the few financing mechanisms designed to scale effective business models for empowering women energy entrepreneurs. This year, GACC plans to award at least 4 grants of up to US$75,000. To better streamline the application process, the Alliance has split the competition into two phases, as outlined below.
The first phase will only require applicants to submit an Expression of Interest, in the form of a narrative with a summary budget and project timeline. Applications will be submitted by email. Upon evaluation of the EOIs received, a shortlist of applicants will be asked to submit a full proposal, including more detailed financial information. How the WEF competition will ed rolled out:
- Phase One:
o Open on March 1, 2016 to all Alliance partners (how to become a partner)
o Applicants will submit a 5 page executive summary/ Expression of Interest (EOI), providing an overview of their business model and the proposed intervention or innovation, including a timeline of project milestones and a budget outlining key cost categories and cost share.
o The EOI deadline is March 21, 2016 at 9:00AM EST/1:00PM GMT.
o Alliance will select finalists to submit a full proposal.
- Phase Two:
o A shortlist of applicants will be selected to submit a full proposal in Phase 2 and will receive a Request for Proposals (RFP) by April 8, 2016.
o Finalists will be asked to submit a proposal, including (but not limited to) a more detailed project plan, detailed budget, financial statements, and performance indicators.
o Final proposals are due May 2, 2016 at 9:00AM EST/1:00PM GMT. Winners will be notified no later than June 17, 2016.
